Sounds like Amber Stars may just be another name for sex links -sex links are particular hybrids that can be sexed at birth by their feather color. The various ones are bred to be good layers.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! X2 Amber Stars, do not think the name is registered, The Dekalb Amberlinks are, Mt Healthy among other hatcheries carries them.
