Bring your "Howdy's" here!

Oh! PRC, sooo the reason I DON'T want tiny chicks is that I have 5 dogs that don't all get along so need to be seperated into groups, 2 cats, and my roommate has 2 cats. I don't really have a place in my house that is safe enough for little teeny chicks. My bedroom is up in the attic, where it's hotter than H.E.-double hockey sticks. My pit bull/jack russell mix, Maggie, and my rats stay up there with me. I keep an AC going all the time so we can all survive up there. That's the safest place I could keep them at the moment, but I don't know how I could keep them secure from Mags. She's fine with my rats and all the tiny foster kittens I've had but she's in my room while I'm at work, obviously unsupervised, and I don't know how I'd seperate her from them. Also, I don't know what I'd do if I got accidental roos. I told my landlord I'd only have hens. I get very attached to animals, especially those I've raised from infancy. I would have a VERY difficult time re-homing. Third, I've only ever had an adult rooster for 8 months. (He was never meant to live here permanently and I found an amazing home for him.) He's the most chicken experience I've ever had. Sure I've done a lot of reading but I've never even held a baby chick before! I just think it would be better if I started off with birds that didn't require such extreme care and attention, since I really wouldn't have a clue what I was doing. And, last but not least, I think I would feel so incredibly guilty if I did not adopt. I don't know if this is a good comparison to make, but I think of big commercial hatcheries as...well, as pretty much puppy mills for poultry

I went rock crawling out at my uncles place in Moab, Utah. We rode Lion's Back and Poison Spider Messa, was a blast! It takes ALOT of talent to rock crawl. Your little girl is GREAT! I tried to get mine to get into Jr. Dragsters back when she was 12, but she wasn't interested. I'm VERY impressed!! Tell her we say.."GOOD JOB!! Your a telented kid!!"!

WOW! You should be! I think when there is something that they are good at and show an interest in, we shhould really foster it. Keeps them occupied and out of trouble too. And when it's a family interest, than all the better!
