Bring your "Howdy's" here!

I understand completely! Some people were not raised with a sense of right and wrong. There is alot of entitlement syndrome these days too!!!

Hi Wynette!!!

Today we put the ringneck chicks out with the chicks. I was chasing pheasants through the woods and getting them out of the fence all day!

We had the whole bottom of the coop fixed so the chicks could not get out......well just above that is where the pheasants made their break!!! So I go out and there are pheasant chicks STUCK in the fence, heads out, bodies in!! Some of them figured it out or got lucky and escaped. I caught two and my husband caught one there are still three MIA right now. One of the ones I caught was like Michelles BO taunting me for almost an hour! He would wait until my hand was almost on him , then run like the wind!!! I caught him once and he slipped out of my hand. I was even shocked by the words that came out of my mouth!! They are very hard to see with all the underbrush, and with sweat and hair all in your face!! I was pulling crap out of my hair all afternoon!!

Stupid Pheasants!!

Hey guys! I have a concern about that OEGB bantam that I just got this past Saturday. He is about a year to a year and a half old. This afternoon, I noticed his comb was alittle more purple at the top and was drooping over alittle more than normal. He is acting totally normal and has no symptoms of any kind. Has normal appetite, breathing and poop. I did leave him in his cage for about 3 hours before realizing I forgot to put his water in with him. When I let him out he did drink alot, and I noticed it was drooping alittle more and the purple area was bigger. He is an inside bird, meaning he lives in the house with A/C with us.LOL! And is not around our other birds too much. I take him out to free range a few hours a day and any time I go outside to have a smoke break. When my wife came home she noticed it too, so it wasn't just my imagination. We took him out and she ran around with him for a while, getting him to chase her to get some exercise. We noticed before we came back in that it was perking back up and not so purple. I also kept him outside with me yesterday for several hours and it was very hot. I wondered if it could be sun burned, and if so what do we put on it. Or could it happen if they are dehydrated? Or could it be lack of exercise? As it seemed to perk up after running around...but he also had just drank alot of water. I just dont want to wake up and it be worse again, and not know what is causing this. As you can guess this is a VERY spoiled and loved bird.

ANY ideas and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
THANKS!!!

He is still in quarantine for a few more weeks, so no worries there. I will keep posted. He is acting just fine. NO other symptoms. Hoping he was just a little dehydrated. Going to feed store in morning to get some vitamins and electrolytes.

Wow I don't know what it could be! I have seen the comb turn grey from lack of oxygen, but I don't know about the drooping. Pick him up and listen to his chest, and check him for mites. Under his wing and the vent area is where you would see them best.Right off those are the onlt things I can think of! I will look and see if I can find more!

Good answers on your post! I would go with the vitamins in the water. I use that on mine too! From what the person with the upside down chicken said, I bet he just needed water! He should be fine with the AC, they live outside in the winter which is much colder!

PRC--I hope your chicken is feeling better soon. I wish I had some words of wisdom, but a chicken doctor I am not. It amazes me all the people on here who know so much about them and I admire them all!
