HOLY CRAP!!!!! Little Squirt(thats his new name), just did what neither one of my RIR and BR roos could do! He took over the flock! He beat down #1 and #2 hens! #1 was our BSL, Gretta that I posted on here about. Remember? She would swing the other roos around by their combs. Chase off and or attack the neighbor's cat. Unbelievable! He is only about a 1/4 of their size!
I did what I NEVER do, I let my layers flock out to free range in the back yard while I let Squirt run around the front yard with me and I kinda forgot that the girls were out when I seen a loose dog a few houses down. I let Squirt go into the back yard while I chased the dog off. When I came into the back yard I found him doing his dropped wing dance around Kracker(#2 hen) as I started to walk over she attacked, and he beat her down so fast! She high tailed it to the other side of the yard. I started laughing and walking over to get him to take him back around front, when Gretta came outta nowhere and was on him like stink on...you know! Little fire-cracker was as fast as greased lightning! He was all over her! Looked like the Tasmanian Devil cartoons! She also jumped up and sprinted across the yard, but this time he was right behind her! I caught up to them in time to see they had stopped and found the scratch I had thrown out earlier this morning. All together, only Gretta and Kracker were giving him a wide gerth. I decided to watch for a few minutes.(I know! I broke quarantine) He became a good leader of the flock instantly! While scratching around he found a pretty big cricket, he killed it and started doing the same thing he does to my wife...he was calling the hens and offering it to them!! Gretta ttook it. Then I took him back in, but I cant wait for the quarantine to be over! He is gonna have a good time free-ranging with the gals!!
Sorry this is so long...But I just HAD to tell you guys! I'm just SO proud of the little guy!!
