Bring your "Howdy's" here!

I just found out my wife told a lady we know, that is getting a seperation, that she would take her Bull Mastiff/ Pit cross puppy! OMG this is not going to be fun! My 7 yr old Pit HATES other dogs. Last time we tried this we had to return the puppy, or it was gonna be killed. But she pointed out that he wasn't fixed then and is now. I guess we'll see. I'm not sure when she is bringing it here. Next day or so I guess.

Well, the puppy was delivered to us about 2 hours ago. We have the dogs seperated as we want to get them familiar with each with out the puppy(Roxxy) getting hurt. Koby(my Pit) has NEVER done well with other dogs. But hoping that since he has mellowed out with age and neutering. She is so cute and seems to have attached herself to me. She has already melted my heart. Now that I'm in love(What I didn't want in case it doesn't work out) I have to make this work. So any advise will be GREATLY appreciated!
Here are some pics of her, she is a Pit/Bull Mastiff cross....

I think keeping them separate for awhile may work so they can get use to each others' scents. Maybe trying to walk with them together. That usually calms down dogs when they meet. It worked for my brothers dog when he met my cousins dog...

Me and my wife was just talking about that! We watch "The Dog Whisperer". We let them see each other through a baby-gate. Koby got pretty wound up, and alittle intense. But it was nothing like the last time we tried. After he started to settle down, we moved Roxxy to another room and let Koby out to smell her scent everywhere. Then we took Koby for a 20-30 minute walk... He REALLY settled down after that. He really paid less attention to her scent when we got back.

She's adorable PRC ! You're doing it the right way. Keep them seperated for a week or so, but so they can see each other in the house. Walk them together once a day until he gets used to her. ( twice if you have to) They should be fine. I've been doing the same thing with our dogs. They are getting better with each day. Introducing a female pup to a male is a little easier. We have 2 males at our house, that's why I insisted on a female even though DH and DD wanted a male GSD. The breeder agreed with me.

Your puppy is cute PRC. My son has a dog similar to that. Her name is Haze. Haze is Bull Mastiff and Staffordshire Terrier. She is the one with the purple collar on.
Oops, you can't see her collar. lol

Thanx guys....Well this morning was alittle better. We are still keeping a barrier between them and will be for a while. He wasn't as intense with her this morning but did snap at her several times. When he stops snapping at her we will gradually introduce them with no barrier. My worst fear is that he gets ahold of her and really hurts her. I HATE seeing dogs get hurt, and like I said, she has loved up to me and melted my heart! I am already severely attached to her. So we are gonna do this VERY gradual so that it works. Because we are not getting rid of her.
