Ok so I have narrowed my Incubator choices down to the Brinsea advance or the eco model. I have always hatched the natural way with an available broody hen but I am getting back into raising chickens after being chickenless for several years. I would like to get a quality incubator that I can hatch eggs with my daughters so they can experiance it. I would like your opinions on if the Advance is worth the extra money. The main differnce I see is the digital read out for both Humidity and temp. I will be using the unit no more then a couple times a year and I will probably end up going back to using a broody hen for setting eggs when I get one. But I plan on keeping the incubator for those times you need one and dont have a hen available. Any comments or other recomendations would be greatly appreciated, I am not opposed to the 270 dollars for the Advance just not sure if it is truly worth the extra dollars as compared to 135 for the Eco.

I have 2 eco's (because I am cheap!) LOL But I am very impressed with them. I have had super good hatches in them. I like them so much I am going to get a 3rd one soon. I have not used the advance. I bet it is even better! But these eco's for the price you definately cant go wrong!

i also have the eco's, love them too bits

x 2 Is the Eco Adanced worth the xtra dollars ?
If you have a good external digital hydrometer/thermometer will that be a plus using the Eco 20 ?

I have the advance ex. My suggestion is to get the most you can afford and feel comfortable with. That way you wont have the wish I woulda's.

If you are referring to the Oct 20 Eco, it is currently $99 on the Brinsea site and if you can find the coupon code it will give you another 10% off. I have this model and have had one very successful hatch and have another hatch underway...
ETA: I also bought the Auto Turner - that I can assure you is worth the extra money!

I would only recommend Advance if you have no time to participate in hatching process (work, limited time etc) another word set it and for get it thing.

If you have time to check the humidity every few days (just fill one of the wells in average climate) I'd buy 2 Ecos for the price of Advance.

They are both stable temperature and humidity wise unlike most styrobators.

Most people who own multiple Brinseas will agree with that.

Yes. Shipped from Washington State to the Coast of Maine.
30 Total:
12 Welsummers
18 BBS Marans

Broke one Wellie when setting. Of the 29 remaining, 24 made it to lockdown - the others were clear.
Of the 24, 17 hatched:
8/10 Wellies hatched
9/14 Marans hatched

Steve

ETA: 3 more of the Marans began to zip but stopped...
