Brinsea Improved and expanded Mini and Ovation incubators

Do I change the vent at all? It's open all the way now. Also, stick the sponge right into the chamber, or leave it at the base with the eggs are? We're almost there!!
Leave the sponge out. If there is enough room, put it into a cup or a food storage container, one that fits the sponge. That will let you go more time before adding water to the sponge.

For hatch, the vent needs to be open all the way.

Chicks will be here soon!

Did you mean to leave the sponge out of the chamber, or leave the sponge out altogether?
Keep the sponge with the eggs.

If the humidity is at 65% without it you do not need it though. Keep in in reserve.

Humidity will go up with each chick hatched too.

Things were good with humidity all day yesterday, but now it's creeping down to 61%. Should I try to slip a sponge in there? Or is that a bad idea to open?
Thanks!!

Opening at this point is fine. Make sure the tanks are full with water.

sponges dry out faster than tanks so you would have t add water to it more often.

Remember, fill the tanks that you are using to the top. humidity comes from evaporation and water can only evaporate from the top. If a tank is say 2" x 3" ins size, it does not change humidity if it is half an inch deep or three inches deep.

I hope his makes sense.

Yes that made sense thank you. So is it OK to open once a day to top off the water during this phase? I'm back down to 63%.
Thanks so much!!!

Yes, Until the external pipping starts and even then you can still add water if you need to.

Keep up the good work!

There is only one that has fully hatched out so far, but there are some other cracks. The cracks started to show up around the same time, but right now we have one beautiful chick in there that's done hatching so far. how long do we need to wait before we start removing the checks from the incubator?
Yay!!

You can take the hatched chick out anytime but it is better to wait until there is a group of them to remove or if there are not pips of zips in the other eggs.

I do not let hatched chicks stay in the incubator more than 24 hours though. You need to remove them quickly and safely. It is also a good time to make sure the channels are topped off.

Congratulations!
