Brinsea Improved and expanded Mini and Ovation incubators

I just looked at the Manual for the Adv. and it says in parenthesis (Manually controlled on Advance product)... Makes sense - why set if we are the ones controlling it.
Thanks.

Thank you!!
Feeling better. Once I changed the RH setting from 20% to 45% it hovered around 40% for most of the day. Now it wants to live at 27%.
Is that ok?
Appreciate it!!

can I also ask how often you end up putting water in? thanks again!
I have an ocatgon with the humidity pump so I do not add water with it. With my Genesis 1588 GQF Incubator I add water every two or three days. Depending on the time of year, I use either one tank or two.

You will need to experiment with adding water and keeping it where you want it. Do not stress over it though. Humidity has a large range of "safe" for incubation, about 20%.

What I do with the Genesis 1588 is add water, it goes to say 40%. I then watch the hygrometer until it gets to 25%, usually a couple of days later or so and then add more water to the tank.

I bet that is why the hygrometer was set at 20%--to let you know when you need to add water.

Controlling humidity would only be possible if you had the model with the built in humidity pump. That is the ex model.

Ok, another question, then they are going in! From what you said,
right now the RH is set at 45%, should I leave it there? Or put it back down to 20%?
You have been really helpful and have made a lot of sense-
I see that humidity cannot be a fixed number now.
Thanks!!!
Lisa

The manual states that on the Adv model the humidity is manually controlled. I wouldn't even worry about the setting. I would just monitor the reading and add water as necessary. Anywhere from 25-40% during incubation then 65-75% during hatch has worked well for me in the past with my Octogon 20 Eco.
