I have a brinsea maxi ii advance incubator. First time using this model. A bit nervous for lockdown. I have a few questions.

Can i start lockdown on day 17? Or at least prep by removing the rotating tray?
On day 18 when i increase humidity, doi need to open the valve more? Right niw it's turned to the lowest setting.

Thanks! First time using this brinsea incubator

In case you don't have it, this link leads to the owner's operating manual for that model. I suggest you read it and do what it says.

The instructions do not say to remove the tray, just stop turning. I don't know what that looks like if you remove the tray so I have no opinion on that.

The eggs do not need to turned after about 15 days so you can stop turning a little early if you want to.

Those instructions don't say anything about a valve. It has two evaporation reservoirs. You increase the humidity for lockdown by filling both reservoirs, for incubation it wants you to only fill one.

You may be talking about the vent that controls how much air enters or leaves the incubator. The more that vent is open the lower the humidity will go, the tighter it is closed the higher the humidity will go. If you already have it as closed as it will go you can't raise the humidity by closing it further. From the way I read the operating manual it is OK to have the vent as closed as it will go during hatch. The developing embryos and freshly hatched chicks need a certain amount of fresh air to be able to breathe. In some incubators closing all vents during the hatch is not a good thing, especially with a still air, but that does not seem to be a problem with your model.

Good luck with the hatch.

THANKS so much for your help. my incubator i have to remove the tray to place the cardboard at the bottom.
I meant the vent! so sorry about that!!! not sure why i called it a valve. Looking forward to the when the chicks hatch. the excitement is overwhelming ( but in a good way )

First time hatching here
I stop turning on day 18 and increase humidity to 55% to 60% and later to 70% most eggs have hatch so far without issues still waiting on 2
Also my vent is all the way open for fresh air
