Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Great! Do you have to turn the eggs your self? I don't see the rotating egg disk like my Mini Advance.

Yes, some people prefer to turn their own eggs even with the Mini Advance. So excited for you. Remember to put some water in only one side every few days. If you filled it completely it should be empty in about 5 days. I wanted to use mine so bad but only 3 eggs were viable so I gave them to the broody to hatch. I'll be using it for sure next spring!

Thanks!! I didn't fill it completely, but I will have to remember to check it every few days I actually have/had 19 eggs, and I wanted to put some in the incubator so the kids could see the chicks hatching out. I have 2 broody hens and I put 6 exchequer leghorn eggs under one broody and 3 Swedish flower and 3 BBS jersey giant eggs under the other broody. So we shall see what happens!! The kids are so excited to see the chicks hatch, I hope I have good luck!!! Well maybe your broody will hatch your three out for you

That's the real reason I bought the mini advance. My son is autistic and loved to watch the eggs hatch through the see-thru top! I'm disappointed I only have the 3 developing eggs but I might just let my broody hatch one and put the other 2 in the incubator at day 19 so he can watch them hatch, then give the babies back to broody mom. Mine are due the 9th.

When cleaning a Brinsea, what have you people who have more experience with it found the best way to clean before a hatch? Do you clean the top part as well? I'm getting ready to set some more eggs.

I like my Brinsea Mini Advance. It seems pretty fool-proof and has great reviews on Amazon. Despite fluctuating temps of 10 degrees or more in the room where it's kept, the fertile eggs have kept going. The only negative is that I am hatching larger eggs (turkey) and they don't have quite enough space between them to turn properly unless I put them top side out, which you're not supposed to do. So I hand-turn.

I wash the bottom part in warm soapy water but not the top part. I just wipe top with a dry cloth. There are 2 tiny holes in the lip of the clear top...they're hard to see but keep them clear of dirt and dust. If the fan has dust and feathers stuck I use a Q-tip to remove.

Somehow dust has gotten in the entire top part. I'm not sure how considering that it's been in the house the whole time... How would you recommend cleaning that part out? I'd hate to break the thing trying to clean it.

I'd use a hair dryer on cool, low setting. Then I'd plug it in while holding it so the incubator fan can blow out residual dust from the housing unit. Just don't get it wet.
