Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco?

Argh...I'm on the fence about which bator to get. I had planned on getting the 1588 Genesis, but I like the Brinsea too. If I could afford it I'd get the Advanced Brinsea, but that's out of my price range right now.

In regards to either bator, as long as it has water in the trays do you have to worry much about what the humidity levels actually are (meaning % wise)? I've seen so many opinions on what the levels need to be that I continue to be confused.

I have the Eco and it is great..super easy to operate..(just follow the instructions)..add water once a week and leave it alone.

This is an excellent, no hassle, no brains needed, incubator. Just load, plug in and go. The turner makes it even easier to have hassle free hatches.
I use my ECO is incubate only and hatch in a styrofoam bator. The ECO is fine for hatching, a little cramped and my only complaint is it is tough to clean all that chick fur out of all the nooks of the ECO. The temperature stablizes in 10 minutes.

The ECO holds it value well so it is easy to sell on craiglist.

Very worthwhile item to purchase.

The only downside I see to the Brinsea is the size, but I don't plan on doing large hatches either. I'll be lucky if I do a dozen at a time. Right now with it being on sale it's cheaper than the Genesis w/turner. Decisions, decisions...

ETA - thanks for the info!

So far I am loving the Brinsea. It's holding the temp steady, and it got there in no time as well. I was also considering the Genesis 1588. I have no regrets at this point. Love this one!

The main reason I wanted to get the 1588 was the large viewing window. I'm looking at becoming a poultry leader for 4-H. There was a family that used to bring in an incubator every year and would have eggs hatch out during fair. Their kids are too old for 4-H now and they didn't bring it this year.

It was a homemade bator, but was always fun to see there every year.

Given the sale price I'm really leaning towards the Brinsea right now.

Rather than start a new thread I figured I'd ask this in here: for those of you that have bought directly from Brinsea how long did it take them to ship your bator? I decided (from the *gentle* suggestion of my wonderful girlfriend) to get the Brinsea Mini. Can't wait for it to get here.

If I am remembering correctly, I ordered on a Wednesday, and got it on Monday... For the price they charge on shipping, they should overnight it!!

I was dead set on the ECO 20 until I saw the $37 shipping. In the end the Mini was still cheaper than anything I could find on Ebay. I really wanted the ECO 20, but can't swing $190 for a bator right now.

I got the eco 20, but w/out a turner. I figure it's semi-automatic anyway since you just have to turn the bator.... and this way I have room to grow in case I decide I want the tuner in the future

There was no break in the shipping if I were to get them both at the same time???? Crazy. If there would have been a savings of even $5 or $10 I would have probably got both!
