The person that you replied to has not been on BYC since Aug. 2012.I have 3 bronze breasted hens. They are around 9 months old. I am struggling with the fact that I will need to harvest them. They are growing so large to the point of them not getting around well. They have to sit after very little exercise. They are the sweetest creatures. I am to the point that it is inhumane to keep them for my own selfish reasons. I wish I would have researched more about the breed.
Pretty heart broken.
There is no such thing as a Bronze Breasted turkey. I believe you are referring to Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys.
You can help your hens by feeding them Purina Game Bird Maintenance feed which is 12.5% protein. Eliminate all treats. Keep them free ranging and take them for walks. It will be a slow process but they can have a longer life if fed and cared for properly.
