I have recently been given a white broad breasted hen. I think she's around 5 months old, according to the folks who raised her. They fed her cut corn and free range. She weighs about 20#'s live right now.
Ive had her on 26% turkey grower and free range for the last 2 weeks. This is my question-
I've heard that the bb's start to get fatty around 6 months. Is this correct? Or. if I keep growing her will she become only a bigger meal than she is now? And, with a better balanced food, perhaps convert some of what I call 'yellow corn fat' into protein?
Id like to wait untli at least September to process, but if all she's gonna do is get fatty, I want to do it now.
Thanks!
