depends on where you buy them.. From someone raising them for meat maybe 20 wks
from a hatchery longer

I actually read that yesterday . I forgot about it completely. That's longer than I want for grow out. Maybe cross or with a Cornish cross to produce a faster grower with better flavor.

most of my birds are part cx.. dress out 5-7 in 16wks sometimes 14

Excellent

the 1/2 cx did. when their offspring were bred together the white ones were lazy, especially the cockerels. Barred ones were good free rangers. apparently the cx hen had hidden barring, because I was getting single barred of both sexes. Barred ones have less breast than the white, but way more than a barred rock.

this year some had red on the white and they were very active.. I kept a couple boys for breeding.. I have kept all the girls and need to get rid of the smaller ones. Most are bigger.

I have raised Madagascar games from Ideal Poultry. They were real meaty but a little small kinda more like large fowl Cornish. Meat was tasty! Would be good to cross with like a White Rock or Delaware.
Pros-
Tasty, good feed to meat ratio, great foragers, less feathers to pluck, all different colors, pretty.
Cons-
Dumb- would get themselves stuck in a feed bucket and somehow suffocate. Stay out in the rain and get hypothermia when they had shelter. Sensitive to hot or cold weather. Medium to small eggs

I had totally forgotten about this thread, now I actually have a few pictures to share from My Naked Neck x Red Ranger crosses, as well as some some half naked Neck 1/4 Red Ranger with various other birds. I haven't kept a Cornish X long enough to breed one ... yet.
