Hello all, I just figured I'd share some info on this batch of broilers. I'm in SW Missouri. We had such a hot summer that I decided to do a late fall harvest. So the last couple nights we had temps hit 18 degrees. So I lined the side of the coop with straw and put a heat lamp going across the top of the coop not pointing at them. Then I covered it with a tarp. All the birds appeared comfortable and no death. They are about 3 1/2 weeks old.

I'm from Michigan and it hasn't been down to 18 degrees here yet.
I have 4 Cornish-Rock Broilers 7 weeks old in a unheated shed.
Took them off heat at 5 weeks old.
There doing good.

Glad to see this post I just moved 25 outside that are right at 3 weeks old. That brooder was getting demolished every 3 days. Mine are on bare ground in a tarped tractor Temps here are 80s and 50s I have 3 heat lamps on them but they're in a 8x8 space. Should I straw the ground to or you think they'll be OK with the lamps and higher Temps.

I just saw this post, I'm sorry for the delay. I put straw on mine for temps of 18 degrees I wouldn't bother with heat at 50 degrees they really are little furnaces
