Her name is Sun, and this morning the front portion of her upper beak was cracked, with dried blood around it. We can push it down in only one direction, so it resembles a crooked tooth. It hurts for her to eat, or groom her feathers. We saw online that using a teabag patch and superglue is an easy fix, but when we pull the beak down, we can see light pink flesh, so we're not sure of what to do. Can you help? Should we break it off or use the fix?

She cannot scrape her beak right now, she's not able to eat and opens her mouth in pain when touched. I havent seen her scraping her beak much though

That beak needed to be trimmed anyway. It looks like it broke before the quick. I'd make sure it's not bleeding and just snip it the rest of the way off. I personally would then take a file and shape it up better.

Are you sure that'd be safe? Because every time we touch the chipped beak, she opens her mouth in pain and it hurts her. It does look like it's chipped after the quick but would her beak heal gradually afterwards and would it cause any serious issue?

The crack has not affected the quick, but if I do snip it off, the quick will be visible

I have cut off the cracked part and it doesn't seem that she has any issues eating and drinking, and it looks like the tip might heal it self and I will file it down to maintain its shape. Thank you so much for your help!

This won’t be answering your original question, but I wanted to add a tip that might help your girl recover.
What helped my rooster after he snapped even more of his beak off than that (still not sure how!), was to wet some feed until it’s like pudding. Have her eat that while she’s by herself so she doesn’t have competition. If that’s still too hard for her, add more water. What happened with my rooster was he couldn’t really eat or drink, so he got dangerously skinny. I nursed him like this for a week or two and his beak healed over, he gained weight and he was able to keep up with his girls again!
Oh, and I very gently cleaned the wound once or twice a day with vetericyn, and then put a tiny dab of neosporin over it. Best of luck! She’ll be fine :thumbsup

Editing to add that I just read your comment about her being able to eat and drink. I’m going to leave my comment up just in case anyone comes across this post with the same problem and needs the info. So glad your girl is doing good on her own!
