I found a second broken egg under my broody hen yesterday. The other three eggs now have dried goop on them. When the hen jumped down to get some water I put in fresh nesting material and replaced the eggs (careful to keep the same orientation). I also added the last two fertile eggs that I have.

Will the goop harm the eggs?

The new eggs are three days behind the goop covered ones. Will she keep setting until they are hatched or give up if and when the first three hatch?

You have an increased risk of bacteria growing inside the eggs, but I've had them turn out fine with broken goop on them. I wouldn't worry too much. Unfortunately, I would say that she will abandon the nest after the first eggs hatch. If you watch close and can have a bater ready, even a make shift one, you should be alright. Just make sure you have it really humid.

Hope this helps!
