Broken Egg!!

22 eggs are currently incubating, with 12 days left until lockdown. During a candling session, one dropped and got cracked! Is it possible the chick is still alive and will be able to make it until hatch day? Or should I give up and throw this one out? I really don’t want to lose it! ):

I also have a broody hen sitting on a rather large clutch of eggs set to hatch on the 13th. If this egg is no longer viable, can I take one of her eggs off her hands and put it in the incubator even though their hatch dates are about 6 days a part?

Wow, that's pretty bad. I had one with small cracks that stopped developing after 1 week and was discarded. The cracks got larger and stuff started to leak out of them and began to smell.

A week apart is quite a time difference. I would just leave the incubator with what it has and the hen with what she has. Why mix hatch dates?

Unfortunately that looks far beyond saving. And I totally agree that I would leave in the incubator what's in the incubator and under the hen what's under the hen. With that different of a hatch date, you could be jeopardizing that little one's life as well.

Thanks for the advice though! I candled whats under the hen and they’re all doing great. I guess I underestimated her

I thought the same thing, but I wonder, with such a big crack, if it is worth it to save. Usually with a small crack, you sometimes use nail polish (or something, I've never had to myself) to cover the crack. I feel as if that egg has a high risk of bacterial infection, which then puts at risk the other eggs. I wonder if anyone else is thinking it is worth saving? I am honestly curious
