Broken egg

I just put 15 button quail eggs in the incubator today.I was marking X’s and O’s on the side and the pencil poked into one of the eggs.The membrane has a small hole and the shell is cracked a little.I cleaned it with a wet paper towel and put a piece of a waterproof band aid on it.What are the chances it will hatch?

I wouldn't keep it, poking through the membrane introduces bacteria which will quickly rot your egg. That's how abscesses form in living tissue. I accidentally dropped or crushed a couple Day 5 eggs from out second hatch (we had 36!) and I still don't hear the end of it from my 12 year old!

Ok,it’s already in there so if anything starts smelling I know the culprit.

I'd say watch it close (and smell often!) and maybe candle daily? Not sure how easy the little buggers are to look inside though!

I would throw it out. It's not likely to hatch and it may cause your entire incubator to stink. Worse, it might explode.

Well it’s day 16 and I can see yolk leaking through the bandaid

Well I incubated it until the other eggs were done hatching but it didn’t develop at all.Oh well,incubate until there’s no debate!
