hello! My chicken this morning came out of her coop limping pretty bad. She is about 5 months old, and she is walking on it but just enough to get around. She curls her toes under and walks on the outside of her foot. But sometimes she will walk on her foot normal and then curl then under really quick. I have her locked up in her run for now so she isn’t moving too too much. Sorry if this sounds confusing, just trying to see what is best to do! I was just going to leave her alone and let it heal but not sure if I should splint it. I tried separating her but she was flipping out and so were the other chickens looking for her, so she is back in the run with the other chickens (they are normally completely free range).

Sorry about your pullet. Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? That can show up at her age, and it may affect one leg with curled under toes. It also may be an injury or a vitamin B2 (riboflavin) deficiency. Along with forcing rest, I would put some chicken vitamins into the water, or feed just her some B complex daily crushed into her food. Here is some reading about those 2 problems:

Thank you. I got them at my feed store when they were a few days old so I do not think they were. But she is able to put her foot straight just when she realizes it hurts she curls it under. I will absolutely take a look at the article, thank you.
