got a fat hen with 3 broken toes all on the same foot. She had one so I totally reconstructed the coop/roost to make it ADA compatible and somehow she in 2 days have broken her other two now the DW wants me to hold her while she uses popsicle sticks and surgical tape to splint her toes. Lunacy? Will it work? Better ideas please... What say you?

We are down to 4 hens and finally this one has started to lay and the wife is not emotionally ready for more casualties.

What breed of chicken is she? Splinting could work but it depends on the bird on how effective it will be.

curled under but not swollen
This sounds like a deformity that happens in young chicks...interesting. Have you tried moving the toes to feel range of movement and to gauge if the hen is negatively affected or in pain?

she's not young maybe 4 yo and just now happened in the last couple of weeks..getting ready to try the splint..should be comical at best.. Divorce at worst

well that was easy enough. Did the meat styrofoam cut into a Kite and wrapped it up in surgical tape and now she's walking around altho tenderly with her friends. She took all the attention rather well as she is the least loveable of the 4

I’m not saying that’s what it is. It just sounds similar to it. All you can do is try your best.
