BROKEN WING - did I do the right thing?

I found one of my chickens last night with what looks like a broken wing We put her in the coop as it was getting dark but this morning she does not look good. She pooped all over herself and her legs are all curled up and she wont or can't walk. I bound the wing to her body with a bandage but did not splint it in any way. Is this OK to just bandage it up to her body? I don't know if she was attacked or got caught in something. She might have worst injuries that what appear, but I thought I would just deal with the obvious broken wing. Any help on how to bandage it would be appreciated.

you should probably keep a close eye on her,so she doesnt peck at the bandages...
maybe go to a vet to get it checked out,i would also do sortof a splint cause thats what you would do for a broken leg,and if you do make sure its snug ,not too tight,but snug,you dont want her able to move it all around,that makes it worse
oh,and id keep her away from the other birds,cause they might peck at her,and once again so you can keep a close eye on her,but id do that and get someone like a vet to check her out
make sure to give her lots of TLC until the vet comes if shes shocked or acting un-herself

oh and that is a good thing to bandage it to the body after you get it bandaged

Thank You YOKO I now think something else is wrong. She flaps her wings so I don't think that one is broken, I also felt all along it and couldn't find a problem, but she will not stand up. She has been laying down all day, she eats and drinks fine she has gone to the bathroom and I've watched her stretch and move both legs, toes, and wings but she will not put any weight on her legs. I have no idea what is going on.

sorry,but i cant help you on that one id get her checked by a vet for sure if i were you. i dont know that much about that subject of the legs,but maybe,just maybe, if you held her up,and then put her legs in the position as if she were standing and just hold her there,see what she does,maybe she might stand,or not.
its kind of embarrising because i dont even have chickens yet(wich my dad wont let me get until next spring when schools over)yet i know so much about them!
but yah, maybe she'll stand and if she doesnt in a minute or two id just set her down again,but as you do it id put just the slightest of her bodyweight down, maybe do that a couple times and if she tolerates all this maybe stick some more weight down(just a tad),and posibly shed get used to standing again.
well i dont know!but thats what id do if i had my chickens!you can only do that if you feel comfortable trying thatyourself,but id do that if i couldnt get a vet to look at her,so yah,just a suggestion,

i dont know if it would work but that sound logical to me

you should probably put her in a place away from the others. I dont know what else to tell you. Hope she feels better.

It sounds to me like she may have a back injury.... if she can move both her legs, wings etc. but not stand, she may have injured something. I have a little bantam roo that was attacked by a bigger roo, he showed no obivous injury except he just layed on his side and would not stand. He would move his legs but could not right himself. I kept him in a small area with a shallow bowel of food and water, were he could not get picked on, and let him rest. It took a month but he now has recovered and is running around the yard. I hope she heals for you soon.

How is your chicken this morning? She may have just been in shock last night. I'd keep her away from the other chickens but where she can see them (I had an injured chicken and she was scared when she couldn't see the others and was very upset). Keep fresh water and food within easy reach. Hold her up to the water so she can drink every few hours. I hope she is okay.
