Thanks. I’ll see if I can pick 6 to eliminate from my list. Otherwise we need to start the expansion. I have 3 weeks before we have them home and another few weeks in a confined space.

Make sure your coop is predator proof and brood them right in it.
 
I'd start smaller (Texas Kiki recommended no more than 8) and then if you can expand the set up, add more birds at that time. I know you said you didn't want to deal with integration, but growing a flock more slowly will help give you more consistent egg production, as younger birds will step up and carry the slack of layers that are slowing down. If you pre-plan and set up for integration, it really isn't that bad... I tried different things as I went last time, and it still went pretty smoothly.
