When using a heat/light clamp for my brooder, does the light socket have to be ceramic or can it be metal? I have a red light/heating bulb I bought at my chicken supply store. I was just wondering if the socket in the clamp part had to be ceramic or if it could be metal. Thanks!

I was told they should be ceramic! The metal can get too hot and overload the circut. Also, we don't use the heat lamps that they recommed at the feed stores, we use reptile lights. Good luck
