Hi BYC forum! I am remodeling my chicken coop and have a question.

I was wanting to build a proper brooder to raise my chicks in the coop instead of a watering trough in the garage, and so I was looking on this website and came across this:

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/amferro103s-homemade-chicken-brooder

I was wanting to build something like that, and to save space I was thinking about elevating the brooder and building my nesting boxes under that. Would that disturb the hens laying any once the chicks start scratching around and their peeps or do you think it will bother them any?

Also, I'm worried about the hens jumping on top of the brooder and scaring the chicks. Is there any way I can do something about that?

    Thank you!!

In my old coop, I put the brooder under the nests.
