brooder picture. is it safe?

you should make sure your cats are very familiar with the chicks...they need to see them as belonging...

they need to see you interacting with the chicks a lot and be around you and the brooder often...cats and dogs watch you as much as you watch them...you are the mother figure...they need to see you as the chicken mother...

just my thoughts...my cat kills wild birds...but shows no interest in the baby chicks...even when they get to run out in the open...

all my cats are indoor cats so I don't have to worry about once the chicks are outside. but the brooder is on the floor of my daughters room and the cats are always in there. Some watch them through the hardware cloth, some may peek down from my daughters bed or just ignore them completely. They have sat behind us when we have had the chicks out. We don't let them get close enough to reach them but they do see us and watch us holding them and see us looking in the door with the door open. They haven't once in 5 days tried to get on top of the crate. I think the top holes are too big that they don't feel they can get a good footing on it so won't try. My daughters desk is beside it so it is easy to get on but they have no interest in that at all.
