Brooder specs?

So here's my dilemma. First of all, the wife didn't want chicks, but 10 later, I bought another 6, looking for another 4. The first chicks are about 5 weeks old and the last batch is a week today. I have an 8x2 brooder set up for the first batch. Although not actually big enough, but it's 4 foot tall and plenty of room for them.

My question is, how big should I make the second brooder? In another month, the bigger ones should be in their coop, so I I could move the babies to the bigger one.

I think if you plan on one square foot per chick you'll have enough space for them until they're four weeks old and can move into the bigger brooder. Good luck!
