Mine is raised....up on some crates, definitely helps the back.Hello, I was thinking on building a raised brooder for baby chicks so I would not have to bend a lot, possibly 1-1/2 foot legs, the cage up to 2 foot tall. I plan to make it out of 2"x2" wood and use 1/2" hardware cloth on all sides and doors opening from the top. First thought was using 1/4" or 1/2" plywood panel for the bottom and use wood chips for them to step on.
Then I thought of using 1/4" hardware cloth for the bottom so that (hopefully) most the chicks poop falls to the ground where I'll have cardboard, or training pads, something absorbent. What are your thoughts on using 1/4" hardware cloth for the bottom of the cage?
Thank you!
