Ok...here are my 4 silky babies...soon to be joined by 7 more day old babies this Monday...but last night after looking on here at some broody hen pics I got to thinking that my babies would enjoy sleeping on top of and under something soft and Mama(ish) too...so here's my feeble attempt!(LOL)...they immediately all ran under the stuffed bunny and seem the be calmer? Now when I go to pick them up they take cover!(so cute!) I know what you're thinking "poop"..but no worries we have tons of stuffed animals so we can rotate while one is in the washer.

I will have a hard time incubating eggs and having the babies NOT having a mom...

It's amazing to see the interaction between them and think it's the most beautiful thing ever - here is my brooder in the garage:

The babies LOVE their mama, they climb on top of her, hide and cuddle under her, they peck at her face, she's now taught them to eat and drink, they're always talking to each other and snuggling...

what is the best way to clean up chick poop, bay chick poop, since it is so much of it. Wood shavings as bedding and scoop it out ot what. Last time we had chicks we used newspaper and it was a mess, but maybe that is the way. ideas please.

what are you all doping to bedding for the chicks and how are you cleaning it, looking for myself ideas

i used paper towels to start with, gives them a good grip to stand on and easy to change. I also just put torn up pieces of paper towel on the messiest spots instead of a whole sheet, and then I would even flip a paper towel over and let them mess up the other side before I finally had to throw it away. lol.

ETA I made it to have a removable set of roosts and deck with ladder to expand the space and to keep them entertained as they get bigger.
