BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

I have built acouple brooders recently,
First one is 3' X 4' about 2' tall.

it has a hinged lid on half of it, and the wired top comes off for easy cleaning. Had to add a window so my girls would be able to see the chicks without me having to pick them up.

I built two more with the same design, only 3'X2'. It was nice because I was able to build two of them out of (1) 4X8 sheet of plywood.

I have 2 smaller doors for the top, just the chicks are small enough not to have to put them on yet.

and of course the cutest chicks in the world

This is why I went with plywood and hardware cloth with a lid this time around.

My old open-top cardboard box would look like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Here's my new brooder my hubby built for me. It's 6'x2'. We used 2 mortar mixing pans to slip inside to help contain the mess and the dust and retain warmth, and for ease of use. So far so good. It is fully enclosed with chicken wire, so if we decide to change to just wire for ducks it would work ok. We also have a removeable divider between the pans so if we have different aged chicks we can divide them, or like now, ducks on one side and chicks on the other.
