this is how i have my light set up and it been wrking fine so far. Been like that for a month now. In this pic it is in a different location sense i had to move them into this brooder cage and the dining room Table is the only place the cage will fit.

the white rope is attached to the cup hook and the white plastic thing you see is a zip tie I have it going threw the clamp. and the rope is hung threw the zip tie.

I hope it shows up well if not I will try and get another picture of it. I had to take it with my cell phone.
this is some of my chicks that I have in the brooer

here is another one of my chicks. Hard to get pics of 10 chicks at once. I have black silkie he or she is in the top pic, easter eggers the ones that look white are also eggers, RIR X Welsummers and Barred Rock And Welsummer. I lost my other Barred Rock and Welsummer yesterday some how.
I am so ready to hatch some more but need to get moved first I am thinking. We just bought 4 acres of land for 3000.00 and its is just 2 miles up the road from where we are now. The girls do not have to change schools and they are closer to the friends they tend to hang out more with. We are out in the country so this will make it easier for them and me to get them to their friends houses. I am so ready to move. Dh is going to be building me a new hen house, and we are going to be building me a hatchery and brooder barn, I will have that next to the house and a couple of breeding pens I am so ready to move now LOL. We have about 3 months to get things packed, animals ready to be moved and move everything. I have horses, donkey, pigs, and all the chickens. I just hope egg production does not get interrupted to bad if so i a have friends near by I can get eggs from.

I just picked up a G.Q.F brooder. One of the best things iv bought. I kept them in a big plastic box before and it was a pain to clean and it was too small. Only have 6 chicks in it right now but have 35 more on the way.

This is my outdoor brooder. I've started calling it the "Barney Baby Brooder", I didn't realize when picking out the colors how reminiscent of the big purple dinosaur that it was...

that is a great brooder. I have been collecting ideas for mine. I was going to start building some here but found some property I really liked so I put them money down for it and we will be moving over there (2 miles up the road from here) in about 3 months so figured I would wait and build them there. Really love the colors too. have not thought of Barney in a long time lol

That's what we use too, lol! The last few years I have used a Rubbermaid tank (100 gallon I believe) This year I bought two steel tanks, one is like, 2x3, and the other is a 2x6. I know they were more expensive then going with what we have on hand (which, right now isn't much, as far as scraps, or containers) but with our son being in and out of the hospital, and the other kids to keep up with...I already had the chicks on order and didn't have time to make anything. These should last me many years though, as long as we store them somewhere dry, and clean them out-which of course, I will do
