Brooder too small

Baby chicks, what fun! We got some last March, they are laying now. Going to order more to arrive in spring. I was a nervous mom too... okay, that's putting it mildly. I'm lucky to have survived the experience! But once they arrived I was fine. :lau You will be, too. BYC will see you through!

I've not used paper towels. Anyone else? They tend to scratch it up, tear it.
Please post photos of the babies!!!!!

I read that the chicks can confuse the shavings with food and might eat them but I have the big shavings so I don't think I have to worry. I will post as soon as I get them home.

Mrs. Rebecca, I know what you mean about being anxious, I seem to get road rage in the parking lot before I even leave from work! Start them in there then see how it goes. You will know in a short bit if you need something bigger.

I'm so glad I'm retired and can hang out with them during the day. I would go nuts with worry.

Probably tomorrow. I measured the temp and it was over 100 so I'm going to raise the warmer.

If I have the big shavings, is it necessary to put paper towels in?
I never use paper towels.

On another note, does rebel chief mean you were a Chief in the Navy? DH was in for 30 years, last post was CMC of NATO Keflavik.
