Does anyone have brooder pics/plans?? I am living on crappy cages, and I want something that can hold maybe 15 or 25 week olds. And space saving would be nice too. And easy to clean and care for the chickies.

Mine was SO easy to make...I got one of those huge watermelon boxes from walmart (ask at the produce dept) and its FREE. All we did was make a cover and a floor out of plywood. Took an afternoon is all. Here is a picture of what we made.

Gotta go with free cardboard as well. I was going to build, but decided to go with a box. I have a box that a stove or dryer comes in for my brooder. I didn't even put a lid on it. No problems whatsoever. My theory is that unless you're brooding multiple batches of chicks all the time, why have a brooder laying around the garage until next year, when you can burn it and start over with a clean, disease free one next year??

Today I picked up and $11 clear plastic tub at DG. Expensive but nice. It had to be clear so I could see the little chicks!! It is 106 liters, and only about a foot high. But it has a lot of floor space for the biddies. I am cutting a 1'x1' hole on the top, putting wire mesh on that, and putting the heat lamp on that. It will be staying in our completly enclosed front porch. I love the free cardboard, but we have kitties and no place to put such a big box.
