Broodies on eggs? Broodies with babies? Post here.

First time for me too, and my broody is also a BO! I have no idea when they're going to hatch. I've seen her brooding for about two weeks but kept removing the eggs. I'm guessing that we're probably day 1-3 but I'm not sure. Today we did move her out of the coop to a dog cage and she ate and ate! Then got back on the eggs and hasn't moved since. There are 5 eggs and we marked them with today's date. I have another broody still in the coop and I'll just let her be. Also putting eggs in the bator later this week!

Good luck everyone!!!

So this is the first time your BO has been broody? How old is she? What breed is your other broody?

I am a little foggy on the date as well. We were on the fence about whether to let her do it or not. I just stuck a bunch of eggs under her to see if it would even happen. Surprise, surprise, it did.

Waiting for developments from anyone... anyone... I know, it is like day 3 - 8 for any one of us.......

Oh boy I wish I had not candled..LOL

Out of 10 eggs 8 shipped eggs and 2 from my own hen. 5 of the shipped ones had not had any devloping in them IDK if they were scrambled during shipping or what. 1 from my own hen had a blood ring it had began to develop but died. There is 4 that are developing very well nice viening good air cells. So 4 out of 10 isn't bad I guess..LOL Considering what the shipped eggs went though I am surprised any are developing. They were in the PO for 7 days and my electric went off the day I recived them and they sit in my cold house for 3 days. So for any to be developing is very interesting and exciting!!!

Ohhh...sorry about your eggs.

I have all buff orps. They are 8 months old, been laying since October. This is the first time they've been broody. I had two sharing a nest and wasn't sure whether I should incubate the eggs or let the broodies hatch them. When DD went out to move them today, one was off the nest so she left her in the coop. She's taken over the nest of the other so maybe we'll have lots of babies! I can only hope.

I just hope this girl gets atleast 1 egg! she has been sitting for 31 days...She set for 21 days on 7 eggs and one by one I tossed because they had either died or were nonferile. She had one and on day 21 nothing hatched and on day 22 nothing so I opened it and the chick had died. She has been sitting for 10 extra days now on these 10 and now she is down to 4. So I am starting to feel very sorry for her...

So I am hoping she gets somthing to settle her broody mind.

Hoping for ya!!! I have no idea if my girls' eggs are fertile or not because I really haven't seen them off the nest in two weeks. And the way the one ate today makes me think they HAVEN'T been off the nest...there goes the fertility

Dont give up hope...I'd say they are fertile just wait and see I have a hen who has not been with a roo in about 3 months and her eggs are still fertile. She just began laying again...I couldnt believe it...

I have an Old English game standard/banty hen on 18 eggs and I have candeled a few times and I see black blobs growing everyday is that common? she's on day 10 today.

Ok not sure what to do. I looked in my broodys new coop/cage and there was an egg out of the nest in the corner all covered in what looked like yolk. So..

I looked under her. One egg exploded under her and it stinks .. what should I do?
