shes in a fully enclosed pen. i thought she'd gotten out! but she didnt she was hiding! duck eggs take about a week longer from what i hear. sooooo i dont know what to do! i dont have an incubator!!!

If she leaves the duck eggs you can incubate them with a heating pad or a desk lamp. It has been done..Just search on the threads for more information if you have to. If she has chicks hatched already she will leave the nest soon with the chicks.

WOW, ok well guess thats what i may have to do. Thank you!!

S/he was hiding under momma's wing when I got home! There is one egg that has pipped. I didn't hold out much hope for these eggs as they got AWFULLY cold when delivered. I hope to get 2 out of the 8.

When I gave them their scratch treat tonight, broody jumped off the nest. I took that as the perfect opportunity to candle. She was sitting on 18 eggs, and I only put 12 under her. There are two buff orp eggs progressing nicely, and I think 5 of the 7 mixed eggs I tucked in a week later. I tossed 6 buff orp eggs and of the 6, only one was fertile and progressing. That made me sad...but in two weeks I should have two babies!!

I don't know exactly what they did but now my broody is roosting with the rest of them. I think she finally enjoyed the freedom and now ignores the eggs. The other one is not in the nest. So I took the rest of the eggs out because of freezing temps at night. Don't know what to do, don't have an incubator, guess it was just my time to learn what to do

we had another storm last night and boy that rain came down just as hard as it did before...

but she was high and dry.. only a little water blew in through the front.. but all the wood and tarps we put over the top of her and the 4x4 layed on its side put under her in the back and the 2x6 we layed on it side in the front to create a small slope.. IT WORKED she was a happy little momma that made it though the storm!
