Would any of my chickens be good mothers? I have
Bluebell
Rir x light sussex
Light sussex
Ayam cemani
I think leghorns are bad mothers.

I heard light sussex give up after a few weeks is this true. Also how will I get them broody?

There is no magical way to make them go broody. Believe me, I'd been searching for 7 years. You can let them collect their eggs, come spring, and hopefully that'll be enough. Safe nest boxes are also a plus

I do not know anything about Light Sussex and their mothering patterns

Hopefully the will be good at hatching 1 of my light sussex when broody before, I have 2 adults and 1 pullet.

It said in a book that they weren't but it might not be true.

Did it mean that they don't take care of their young or was it referring to the fact that they are less likely to go broody than some other breeds? Less likely doesn't mean they won't. Going broody is about hormones and instinct. There seems to be some connection to heredity and going broody, so some breeds are more likely to go broody, but it is about individual birds and their hormones. If a hen does go broody more often than not their hormones and instincts will take them from broody to grown chicks.
