When you are able to put the silkies outside PLEASE make sure they have loads of shade, they do not handle high heat and humidity well. They needs lots of cold, fresh water, and probably a fan in the coop to keep air circulating. Moving air feels cooler. You may need to use misting hoses to cool air near them and even swallow pans of water they can cool their feet in.
You may want to post on your state thread to see what others do . In some hot areas of the country they have two solid walls for a coop and two walls that are entirely hardware cloth to let air pass through. Chickens usually are much better at handling cold, than heat.
