brooding?

This is my babies first clutch so we are all learning. Came home from errands to find my brown pheasant looking silki on the nest. When they see me in the afternoon it's scratch time so maybe I accidentaly trained them to treats? Idk
She was grumpy though would go scratch then immediatly run back to thr nest area to see what I was doing. I added two from the incubator setup back to the nest of four and added a couple ping pong balls. I am so releived

Miss Lydia,
I am curious, if you know the answer to this question! I am trying to piggy back on other threads before starting my own!
I have 2 coops, and have recently remodeled one to be my brooder coop and pen. If a hen goes broody, do you know if I can move her and the eggs to the other coop and she'll keep brooding? I don't know if it is super traumatizing or possible! Also, do you think if I lock a few hens up in there and leave eggs, they will start brooding? I really want a new generation of my favorite hen, as she is getting old and I want her legacy forever :) TYIA!

I've done it before but I usually wait till right before hatch unless I find one outside the fenced area then I remove eggs and as much of the nesting material as I can and take hen and eggs inside where I have a stall with a door and top put the nest of eggs and hen in and close the door later after she has settled down I put food and water in for her. This has worked 2X with an OEGB hen

I have also done this with my Muscovy ducks and they have stuck to the nest and eggs.

It really depends on the bird. All you can do is try. What breed are we talking about?

I believe she is an Australorp. She is SO hardy and typically lays through any circumstance. She flew out of the run last Spring, disappeared for a few weeks, and came back with 16 baby chicks in tow!! She is amazing! Recent selling of roosters and predator attacks have led to me no longer having any of her offspring :(

If you can let eggs sit in the nest and she'll lay in there she may go broody again. Congrats on having a broody BA I have had 1 for 5 yrs and she has never even looked like she was thinking of brooding. lol Main thing here is keeping other hens from getting into my broody's nest boy they are bad for that. lol

Thank you! What if I isolated her to ensure I only had her babies hatch out? Do you think she would be too stressed to lay and brood?
