I mainly need a few questions answered and if anyone has links to something that could help that'd be great!

So whats happening is I have a first time broody hen. All of my chickens are year old RIRs, we have a rooster and five hens. My hen went broody yesterday and sat on four eggs. My mother and I have been debating whether or not to let her sit. Today, I planned to move her to another coop and my mom said break her broodiness. I left the hen outside of the coop so she couldn't sit for about an hour so I could clean out our small old coop to break her broodiness in. When I got back into the house, I learned that my sister convinced my mom that we should let the hen sit and give away/sell the chicks :barnie. I tried moving the eggs to the small coop so my hen could sit and she kept freaking out. Right now she is back in the big coop with the others and there are five fake and six real eggs in her preferred nesting box but she is not sitting. Ill check her again tonight.

Also, another issue we're having is that my rooster has been sick (he's fine now) and in a sick coop for three days so he hasn't been with his girls. I checked an egg last night and it was fertile but I don't know if today's or tomorrow's will be as well.

Would it be a good idea to wait a few days and candle the eggs to check development and only move the good eggs and the hen to the new coop that night? Also, if I did this, how long should I wait?

Are you sure she is broody, or hiding from rooster and other hens? I usually let them sit after they fight me for the eggs a few days in a row so I know they are serious. Sometimes they are just hiding out. Sometimes they have their mind set where and how many they want to sit, see how she acts for a couple days.

I'm pretty sure she's broody. She isn't aggressive but I switched her and the rooster after thoroughly cleaning the coop, or at least I tried to, so I do not think she's hiding out. We have a pretty large coop so she has multiple places she can hide too. She also was plucking feathers out of her belly so she can keep the eggs warm. I'll keep and eye on her for a while and see what happens though. I checked on her thirty minutes ago and she is back to sitting on the eggs.
