i have a broody, i tested her for 4 days to make sure she would stay on the nest. i just set some eggs yesterday, the broody is a bantam polish named pom-pom. there are two egg-speriments that i am doing. first, hatching with a broody, i have had a broody before but never utilized them. second, i am trying to use some refrigerated eggs for the hatching eggs (some were left on the counter). the eggs i am using are from three hens the first would be a polish the second is a Belgian bearded D'Anvers, the third is either a buff orpington, an australourp or a salmon faverolle. the rooster is also a Belgian bearded D'Anvers. i will see how this goes. pom-pom is sitting on 7 eggs two are from the counter and five are from the fridge.

Wow! A polish broody? never heard of that! broody polishes are extremely rare, i'd have a back-up incubator just in case she decides to stop brooding. Best of luck with your 'egg-speriment' Hope you get a good hatch~

i have herd that polish don't go broody very often, she had a very low place in the hierarchy of my flock and now she is in my show cages where she can see other chickens but not get attacked. so i think maybe she feels safe enough to brood now, she is also pretty old, hatched in 2013

Many have hatched refrigerated eggs, hatching Trader Joe's fertile eggs was a big thing for awhile.
I put an egg 13 days old and 10 days refrigerated before I gave it to a broody in the middle of a frigid winter.
Have Fun, Best of cLuck!

uhh. well none of the eggs were fertile:hit:th:barnie:oops:. and after taking the broody's eggs she broke:barnie. so now i have to wait until my cochin or old English game go broody. the cochin especially goes broody later in the summer closer to September.
