I have a black Australorp that appears to have gone broody. She hasn't left the nesting box in almost 24 hours. She's probably got about 6 eggs (unfertilized) under her. Are they typically a broody breed? I've had Buff Orpingtons who would go broody as we came into summer, but none of my other ladies.

yes, they are prone to going broody, tend to do a good job!

Well dang! Makes me wish I could have a rooster. Maybe I'll find some fertile eggs to put under her. In the meantime, it would be nice to have the eggs she's sitting on hahaha. We have 5 lay boxes, but all of them like using the one she's in. Now I'll have an egg hunt too
