Caption for Chiquitas photo: "I wonder if the stork brought me the wrong egg??"

My boyfriend even said "awww" at all the photos!

Glad y'all like them! These are Embden geese, the females are *supposed* to go broody but none of the females were interested this year. So when these bantam hens went broody I decided to experiment by giving them goose eggs to hatch. They stay outdoors in bottomless cages during the day, but are brought indoors inside pet carriers each night. There had been a rat snake snooping around and we didn't want to take any chances with the safety of these babes. Biscuit used to let her goslings snuggle under her, but it's warm enough indoors that they just sleep side by side. They fully mother these goslings in every other way, bluck-bluck-blucking to them as they go along, fluffing up and threatening anyone that tries to come near.

My teeth are ACTUALLY FALLING OUT, those pictures are so sweet.

The horror!!!!!

I'm over 50, and this is the first time I have been tempted to type: "O M G!" Save that last photo of Chiquita and her baby - it has just got to win any cutest photo contest this website has in the future!
