Say that 3 times... ;)

So my poor broody had an overgrown beak when her chicks hatched (just from sitting around I suppose). I inquired about this on one of the active broody threads twice- wondering if I should do something. Received no replies.

The long tip of her beak has now cracked off, exposing tissue below (looks like the roof of her mouth/lower layer of the beak). She does not appear painful- is eating better than she was with her beak overgrown.

Should I file the rough edges on either side down or leave it alone? I'm worried about it splitting. She's an excellent momma hen- 12 chicks currently (from 12 eggs!) and 0 losses event though she is WITH the flock... and I so don't want to brood them indoors... so it's kinda critical that she be OK. lol... Here are some pictures:

Man, crickets. Anyone? Should I leave it alone? I don't want to stress her if I don't have to, but I also don't want it to split. I'm just not experienced enough to know if that's likely to happen or not.

I would lightly file, just so it will not snag on anything.
