Broody barred rock

I have a 6 mo old barred rock who recently started to lay n she's now getting more n more broody ev day. She's generally a sweet hen but while gathering eggs she's downright crabby! Is it normal for her to be like this so young?? I have no roo's either by the way. Someone help! ;-). Lol

Regardless if there's a roo around or not, hens will still go broody. It is normal for broody hens to be a bit cranky they're just defending the nest.
