Broody behaviour...in a tom.

Our Bourbon red Tom has stopped roosting at night and started sitting on a nest of muscovy eggs. He is obviously in good health. Why is he showing this behaviour? Is this normal for turkeys or is he confused

My tom went broody last week and has smashed 5 eggs so far. Nice to see I'm not the only one with a broody tom!

My RP tom has been sitting about 15 eggs for about a week now. He is taking very good care of them. I have even seen him stand up and turn the eggs.
