broody buddies (PICS!!) UPDATE...HATCHING!

I candled again today. We are down to 3 eggs. The hens keep getting run out of the nest by bigger girls. They'll move to another box, then, like forget to go back. Several times I found the eggs alone and cold. If I can't get our mini coop and tractor back together myself, I may bring the 2 girls inside and put them in a kennel. I'll be my luck that anything that hatches will be a roo. BTW, I'm terrified of the 4 eggs I took out today. Right now they are in multi-layered ziploc bags until I can get to the dump tomorrow. Supposedly, the remaining eggs will hatch Saturday or Sunday. We'll see!

I've got a question... the eggs under these broodies are due this weekend. I just found out that a local guy is getting in Welsummer chicks this weekend too! I really want some of those. Bear in mind that these are bantam hens. Could I get 2 or 3 Welsummer chicks to "sneak" in there. Assuming all 3 eggs hatched, is would that be too many for the mommies? I know that the chicks have to be only 1 or 2 days old or mom won't accept them.

curious to hear what other say about this ???

Ok, the girls are moved to their safe, separate location. We put them in separate nests and within a few hours, they were in the same nest. Eggs are due to hatch on Saturday. Lookie!!!!

The eggs are zipping and hatching!!!! Hoping to get a peek at the chicks soon. So exciting! We have to lift the roof up to see in, so I hate to do that too often. But the kids and I are just so thrilled that something is happening.
