Ok, so this goes against anything I've ever researched BUT... Yesterday, believing they were dead in the shell, I cracked one, finding another live chicken, I carefully peeled away the top half of the shell, rupturing blood vessels etc. I said to my daughter, who was watching on in horror "this will definitely die now, but I kept it in my hands (the bottom half of the chick still in half of a shell). 10 minutes later, it's still breathing so I decided to put it in a drink bottle cap and place it back in the incubator. This morning the chick was still alive, still half in the shell, this afternoon the chick was still alive, still half in the shell, tonight, the chick got out of its half of a shell and was chirping, and is now a fluffy lil bundle running around in the brooder. What a miraculous chick. So 2 have hatched so far and I have another one pipping.
It really is amazing. I had 3 more hatch over night, one is hatching now.. With its foot hanging half out the shell, weirdest way to hatch EVER, and another one pipping
