One hen went broody on Saturday. She’s moved boxes a couple times already. I’d like chicks but I’m thinking switching boxes isn’t a good sign.? Today I moved the eggs back under her... I know she had been on the nest all last night and most of today.... but then tonight I found her in another box and her eggs had been left in the previous box. Not sure how long they were w/o her. What’s the chance these eggs will be ok?

I am taking it your hen is in a coop with other hens.
I believe your hen will be constantly be bothered by the other hens compeating for the nest box. That is why she is moving around.
Removing her from the general population and setting her up in a secluded spot by herself will result in a much more successful hatch.
I use a rabbit style hutch for my broodys.

Yes, she’s in a coop with 9 other hens a one Roo. I do let them out each day... but the girls cycle in to lay. There are three nesting boxes.

I do have a second coop. I have five 12 wks old chicks in it though. I’m concerned it would be too early to move them into the big girl coop. I’ve never successfully moved any in before 14 wks.

Should I give her fresh eggs or let her keep sitting on these five. She left them a couple times when she’s switched boxes. I’ve put them back under her within a few hours... but I’m thinking that time delay isn’t good?

I am inclined to say let her keep the 5 she started with plus if these eggs are just started, give her 2 more just laid ones. That way she wont end up with nothing.
Hatching eggs have survived with breif periods of cooling starting out.
If you figure out a good spot to set up your broody, move her to the new spot after dark. Make sure the new spot is private, dark and safe for her.
I just moved 2 broodys to my rabbit hutches last week. I only see evidance of them out in the cage part because the food is disturbed.
Good luck!
