Broody chicken wants to nest outside

I thought it was around a dozen but I could never check because she kept hissing and trying to peck me if I tried to look at them, so none of them are marked. Prob about 14 days though.

Caught yet another different hen running around growling with her wings out, acting broody. Hopefully it's just a passing fancy! :fl

The nesting one has been sitting on the eggs for about 18 days now. I wonder how things will turn out... I should be building a new coop to prepare but wood prices are super crazy! At least it's summer time.

I like to let my broodies raise their babies within the flock. Integration is so much easier that way.

I hope you have a plan for when it’s no longer summer time, if you plan on keeping them all. Crowded chickens can develop some very bad habits.

Yeah I was planning on extending the coop this spring but now it's gonna take a lot longer to get the $$ for materials, lol

...Who knows what is going on anymore. I think the one on the right has been putting eggs into the nest? Which might explain why there's so many eggs. But if she's doing that there's gonna be a staggered hatch, so who knows. Now both are sitting squashed together and growling. Day 20. >_>
