Broody Duck Acting Weird

I wouldn't let the drake be with mamas and ducklings at least not till the ducklings are strong and big enough to stay out of his way. Some drakes are okay with ducklings some will injure or kill them I never take the chance and keep my moms and babies separated where everyone can see each other but can't get to them for 2-3 weeks. If the dog house sits up off the ground that is a problem because ducklings do wander and if mama is still sitting and hatching she isn't going to be real attentive Ducklings have been known to fall out and not get back to mama. It's important the ducklings can stay warm. Sorry to add more stress but things that need to be thought about.
The expansion project is to separate the drakes from the girls. The house has a ramp up into it and the pool is to contain them but maybe I can make some kind of temporary lip to keep them from leaving the house? i just don't want to prevent the mommas from being able to get out too...

I'm sure you'll work something out.

So our girl has been acting fine now I guess... the posturing my husband noticed i think is due to her not properly grooming her belly while on eggs and her waterproofing seems to be gone so I think she is getting a cold belly when she is out and in the water.
No ducklings yet

I'm not sure it is going to work out for her this time. She's kicked maybe 4-5 eggs out of her nest in the past few days and Saturday she came off her nest (and flew! That was new) and went to the pond for a few hours allowing her eggs to get cold

And we've had some cold (for Georgia) days the past week. I'm going to let her keep sitting for another week and if nothing comes of it I guess we will clean house and try again in the spring.

So I came home from work today to a tiny little squeaking in our pool

And we got our first duckling!!!!! I put it back in the house with the Momma's and gave food and water!!! Not sure when or who hatched her but she is adorable!!!! And my two males won't let me in look in the house!

Omg as I took the picture I saw another baby squirming out from under her!!!!

So you have a new mama?  They are adorable Congrats!!

We actually have sort of two new Momma's. Our mallard has hatched 3 and our welsh (the one this post is about) has hatched 1. Although based on its coloring i think it is a full mallard. There was some nest sharing happening in the beginning so the eggs got a little mixed up.
I will go check on them again after supper to see what's happening. There were 3 more eggs in the mallard nest that looked as though they were starting to pip.

Doesn't matter to the moms they are their babes no matter the breed.

These are the eggs our one girl is still sitting on... are they still viable or should I just toss them so she can give the babies her attention??

Just by looking at them they look like some are about to explode Blk? I'd candle them all before discarding but they don't look too good. Have you done the smell test and the listening test ? Put the eggs to your ear to listen for peeping and smell for any that maybe rotten but handle very carefully so none explode on you. @EmilyP
